Shearing time is upon us and better to book now than later to get the date you would like and to have a shearer available.
Some of you may know that our local shearers have fallen on a bit of hard times. Alexander broke his leg/ankle badly before Christmas and Johanna has been busy keeping up with things on their farm due to her mom not being well.

Alexander doesn’t think he will be back in business until at least March at the earliest, if the doctor ok’s it. Johanna and family are busy lambing so won’t be available until after March 15th; unless someone has an emergency and needs a sheep shorn before then.
There are 2 well recommended shearers on the island that have agreed to come over and help ease the load, one: Lorea Tomsin and the other Peter Demooy also known as Last side Shearing. Lorea is available on January 27 & 28 and has a girl that assists her. Peter is available now.
It would be good if several farms can have sheep ready to be shorn so they can come and do a few flocks over a few days. They may need to have a place to stay (keeps the cost down) You can contact them directly.
